Pickens County Girls 7-8 All Star Team Placed Second in State

The Pickens County girls 7-8 All Star team having won the District 5 Championship earned a spot in the state tournament in Bremen, Georgia. The 7-8 Girls All Star team had an exciting weekend at the state basketball tournament. They finished as the runner up and placed second in the state.
The tournament started Friday night with the Dragonettes losing to Bowden County. The girls turned it on Saturday by overpowering Fannin County to move to the semi finals and confronted Rabun County. The team defeated Rabun County to advance to the finals where they faced Pierce County.
In the Championship game the Dragonettes were down early by four, but then came back to lead the game by 3 with 2 ½ minutes to go. Pierce County managed to score 6 points in the end beating the Dragonettes 16-13. It was a great weekend for basketball and we would like to congratulate all the girls and the coaches for their hard work.
The team consisted of Sarah Barnhill, Emma Black, Karolina Kearns, McKayla Kirchoff, Chelsea Lawson, Carmyn Mullins, Adrienne Plumley, Madison Powell and Anslee Stone.
The coaches consisted of Dustan Mullins, Head Coach, Phillip Black, Assistant Coach, and "Bug" Stone, Assistant Coach. Team Manager was Caroline Mullins.
