New pottery teaching studio opening its doors in Jasper1/24/2010 - Fire Goat Pottery is a pottery teaching studio in Jasper Georgia owned and operated by studio potter, Christopher Baumann. Classes in wheel throwing will be offered to adults and mature teens in four and seven week sessions. Children as young as 11 can participate in parent/child classes. Private lessons are also available. Summer camps for kids 11-17, as well as birthday or scouting group parties may be offered this summer.
A member of the Southern Highlands Craft Guild and a Pickens Arts and Cultural Alliance board member, Christopher believes there are great opportunities in the Jasper area for new art related businesses. Fire Goat Pottery will open with several classes to be offered, but plans to expand the business in the future with creative offerings for the whole family.
