Leading Atlanta Choral Group Sings in Jasper

4/18/2017 ~ by William Pattillo

Holy Family's free concert series continues on April 23 at 3:30 PM when Atlanta Schola Cantorum presents a program of selections from the golden age of early music in England. The concert will feature selections from the group's Spring 2017 concert repertoire which will be performed in Atlanta and again at the Festival of Churches series at Piccolo Spoleto in Charleston, South Carolina. Included will be works by Thomas Tallis and William Byrd. The Atlanta group is one of the finest choral ensembles in Atlanta, and includes Holy Family's own organist/choir director, John King Carter.

Following the concert, Atlanta Schola Cantorum will sing Choral Evensong, including the Magnificat and Nunc dimittis from the “Short Service” of Orlando Gibbons.

This free concert is a community outreach of the music ministry at Holy Family, and all are cordially invited. A reception will follow evensong.

The 2016-2017 free concert series at Holy Family concludes on Sunday, May 21 at 3:30 P.M. with a vocal concert presented by Spencer Dunn, Anne-Carine Exume, and Jaime Mandujano. These Reinhardt University students serve Holy Family as choral scholars, singing for the 10:30 A.M. service weekly, as well as other special services for feast days.
