Tianna Mashburn, a Sixty Plus Services nurse at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital, helped more than 66 patients in Guatemala get the surgeries they needed by taking part in a medical mission trip.
This was the fourth trip Mashburn made to Clinica Ezell with Health Talents International. She arrived in Guatemala the first week of June with three duffel bags of supplies, which allowed the clinic to schedule 11 additional surgeries that week. Her colleague, Laura Nix, a cardiac rehabilitation nurse, accompanied to assist with patients.
"We were glad for the opportunity to help," Deanna Young, director, Surgical Services at Piedmont Mountainside, said. "Piedmontís staff stand out through their passion for service. We are grateful to Tianna for her efforts, as well as our Supply Chain staff for collecting materials she needed for her trip."
Mashburn said she was proud of the response from her colleagues at Piedmont Mountainside and was excited to share what they were able to do for the people of Guatemala.
ďIím grateful for the opportunity to return to Guatemala and help the people there," Mashburn said. "Serving others is the heart of what we do, and through this program, we can extend that service to those in need."
