PHS Swim Team Compete at the Battle of Dalton

The second swim meet for the PHS swim team was the Battle of Dalton last Saturday, November 11. The students competed against six other schools, which is over 250 swimmers.
Victor Lane was amazing as he qualified for state in the 100 yard butterfly. Victor also received 2nd place overall in the 100 yard backstroke. Anthony Jordan came in 5th place overall in the 100 yard butterfly, just shy of a state qualifying time, in the 100 yard butterfly and 4th in the 50 yard freestyle with Carter Lindsey and Will Giambra following closely behind.
The boys' 200 yard Medley Relay (Will Giambra, Victor Lane, Anthony Jordan, and Carter Lindsey) pulled 5th place finish overall and had personal best times. The boys’ 200 yard Freestyle Relay also finished 6th place overall.
The girls' team dominated the 50 yard freestyle bringing 1st place overall (Lizzie Arrendale) and 2nd place overall (LeeAnne Clendenin) in this event. Lucy Stout, Ellie Poole, and Emily O’Shields all placed first in their heats. Abby Gerrard placed 2nd in her heat. Courtney Dorden placed 3rd in her heat. Allison Johnson and Sarah Bramlett placed 5th in their heats. All these girls were within just a few seconds. Lizzie Arrendale, 2nd place overall, and LeeAnne Clendenin, 6th place overall had solid finishes in the 100 yard freestyle with Lucy Stout winning 1st place in her heat. Sierra Redford came in 2nd place in her heat. Cortney Dorden and Sarah Braamlet finished strong in 4th and 5th place in their heat.
Michelle Pickett completed the 200 Individual Medley with a strong 4th place finish overall and a personal best time. Ellie Poole dominated her heat in the 100 yard backstroke and had a strong 1st place finish. Abby Gerrard, Sierra Redford, and Emily O’Shields came in all with in one second of each other and pulled out 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place finished in their heat.
Michelle Pickett also had a dynamic 4th place overall finish in 100 yard breaststroke. The girls’ 200 yard Medley Relay Team and 200 yard Free Relay Team (Michelle Pickett, LeeAnne Clendenin, Shannon Johnson, and Lizzie Arrendale) received a 2nd place finsh overall. Abby Gerrard, Ellie Poole, Sarah Bramlett, Sierra Redford’s team had a strong 4th place finish.
The girls again dominated the 200 yard Free Style Relay with a 1st place overall win. The Relay team of Lucy Stout, Allison Johnson, Courtney Dorden, and Emily O’Shields finished 1st place in their heat. The last relay team, Ellie Poole, Sarah Bramlett, Sierra Redford, and Abby Gerrard finished 2nd in their heat.
Coach Deb and I would like to compliment these students on how well they represented Pickens High School. They displayed amazing athletic ability and great sportsmanship. We are very proud of all these swimmers and all their hard work
