Carriage House Coffee Shop Wins Small Business of the Month for the Second Time
Pickens County Chamber of Commerce announced at the September Membership Breakfast that Carriage House Coffee Shop has been selected the Small Business of the Month for the second time. This is the first time that a small business has been selected twice. However, the number of nominations for Carriage House Coffee Shop was so overwhelming that the Small Business Council voted to give them the award a second time. Dawn Popadics was awarded a framed certificate at the September Membership Breakfast by Julia Jorns with Julia Jorns, CPA, LLC and sponsor of the Business of the Month program.
The Carriage House Coffee Shop had been a Jasper favorite for a long time under a previous owner. Dawn moved to Jasper and began there as an employee. After about a year she went from being the newest employee to owning the business.
The business is a place where customers meet old friends and make new ones. It is its’ own special micro-community. The owner cannot say enough good things about this “amazing “community, her “amazing employees” and the “amazing” customers. She gives back in many ways. Dawn is active in the Chamber, the Jasper Merchants Association and the Red Cross.
Since the first Small Business of the Month award, Dawn became the past Chairman of the Thrive to Five organization in the system of care. She helps with the Joy House, providing any of their Honor Roll students a free meal. She regularly contacts and works with other restaurants in the area to offer to help as a partner if her assistance is needed. Also, Dawn does a great job spreading the word of upcoming events to the community.
Please join the Chamber in congratulating September’s Small Business of the Month, Carriage House Coffee Shop.
Nominations for future Small Business, Large Business or Non-Profit Organization awards are now being accepted. You can find a nomination form online at www.pickenschamber.com under the Economic Development / E-Friendly page or you can pick one up at the Pickens County Chamber of Commerce.
