A New Year Brings a New Season of Great Plays to Your Community Theater
Tater Patch Players is currently rehearsing a comedy that will warm your winter. Those Crazy Ladies in the House on the Corner by Pat Cook, is the delightful tale of three widowed sisters who have found themselves living together again in the old family home. They have few friends and even less family. But they do manage to have a great deal to say about it. Tater Patch regulars will notice new names among the cast. There are five new actors, all of whom have had some acting experience elsewhere, but never on the Tater Patch stage.
The opening scene, where Lydia, Dora and Maggie (played by Sharon Young, Jackie Agers and Jan Simpson) start to talk, will have the audiences in stitches. Those who have sisters, or friends of a certain age, will recognize these three at once. The family physician, Doc Lomax (played by Gary Boyles) is trying to help each of them overcome a specific problem, so he asks a nurse, Jean (played by Alana Barnes) to move in with them. The arrival of their pushy niece, Phyllis (played by Jessie Ray), Jean’s boyfriend Calvin (played by Wil Nix) and a strange visitor (played by Nancy Davis) complicate matters. The local delivery girl, Blue (played by Hannah Landreneau), livens things up with a healthy dose of “attitude”. Taken together, this is a fine ensemble cast, directed by Audrey Kirsten.
There are many people in our community and among the Pickens Progress readers, who have never been to a Tater Patch Players show. To try to remedy this, and show everyone in our community what a fine theater experience we can provide, Tater Patch is introducing FIRST TIMER TICKETS. If you’ve never been to a Tater Patch show, buy one of these for just $10. Regular patrons, bring someone new for just $10 – less than the cost of a movie ticket, and a lot closer too! The theater is at 95 Philadelphia Lane, off Old Philadelphia Road “behind” the Walmart. The website has a map and most GPS units can find us by name.
Movies and TV shows are great, but nothing feels like being part of a live performance audience. There’s electricity that flows from the live actors on stage into the audience and then back again. We encourage you to give it a try. And we welcome back our "regular" and much-loved audience members.
The plays dates are February 9, 10, 11, 16, 17, 18, 23, 24, 25. The Sunday performances are at 2:00 PM and all the others at 7:30 PM. Dress is casual and we have a concession stand with candy, excellent popcorn, water, soft drinks, beer and wine. Tickets may be bought in advance online at www.taterpatchplayers.org or through our Facebook page. Tickets are sold at the door beginning one hour before each show time.
