1/26/2012 - My name is Bart Connelly and I am announcing my candidacy for the Pickens County District 1 County Commissioner Seat in the July 31, 2012, Republican Primary.
I have been a resident of Pickens County for the past twelve years and a resident of Georgia for over twenty years. I am a member of the Pickens County Republican Party and have been elected as a Delegate to three Republican District Conventions and as an Alternate Delegate to two Republican State Conventions.
My wife Cindy and I have been married for thirty-seven years and we have two children and three grandchildren. Our daughter lives with her family in Jasper, and our son is in his fifteenth year of Service in the United States Navy.
I have a Masters Degree in Education from West Virginia University and have been a member of the Carpenters Union for the past thirty-three years. I have built everything from doghouses to high rise buildings, have been a teacher and a coach, and just like almost all working men and women who are out there every day, I have done what is needed to provide for my family.
Living in Pickens County has allowed me the opportunity to appreciate the people and the beauty of this county. Last fall I coached my grandsonís soccer team through the Pickens County Recreation Department and realized that all the parents want what is best for their children. This is a wonderful place to raise a family. We have good schools, activities for children, and a safe place to live.
With Pickens County now moving into a new era in Government with a three person Commission, I look forward to the opportunity of being the Commissioner who represents the citizens of District One. I look forward to meeting as many citizens as possible as I campaign throughout the Western Half (District 1) of the County and listening to you, and learning from you, as to your concerns and solutions to keep our County moving forward in a positive direction.
Once again my name is Bart Connelly and I am asking for your support to become District 1 Commissioner. May God Bless us all.
