Video Highlights: Melinda Goss, Pickens County Recreation Department Director, reported that there were eight All-star teams and four made it to the state level. Approximately 240 children have signed up for fall soccer beginning September 24. Basketball registration will begin the end of September and continue through mid-October and the Community Center should be ready for the season.

Probate, Magistrate, District Attorney and Probation offices moving to the Federal building (old Post Office behind Bank of North Georgia) in November as part of the Courthouse Project. Red Ribbon Week will be October 23-31.

   1. Adopted Resolution expressing Pickens County's support for either the modification of the boundaries of Georgia's Ninth Congressional District or the creation of a new Congressional District comprised of Bartow, Catoosa, Chattooga, Dade, Fanning, Floyd, Gilmer, Gordon, Murray, Pickens, Polk, Walker and Whitfield, due to the shared interests of such geographical areas and that such support should be communicated to the entire Murray County delegation to the Georgia General Assembly
   2. Adopted Resolution appointing Michael White to the Pickens Family and Children Services Board for a five year term beginning July 11, 2011 and ending June 30, 2016.
   3. Adopted Resolution entering into an Agreement for Services between Pickens County, Georgia and Pickens Arts and Cultural Alliance.
   4. Signed Proclamation for Kids 4 Cares Day in Pickens County
   5. Signed Agreement with JKH Architects of Dalton, Georgia for the Pickens County Courthouse Renovation and Addition at the site of the existing Courthouse
   6. Adopted Resolution appointing Jerry Edwards to the Development Authority of Pickens County to fill the unexpired term of Mark Whitfield. The 6 year term ends September 8, 2013.
   7. Adopted Resolution Amending the Pickens County Land Use District Ordinance (Ordinance #67) in regard to Parcel 041-133-001 composed of 12.55 acres from Agricultural (AG) to Rural Residential (RR). Owners, J. W. & Maxine Dean requested the change. The property is located at 2831 Highway 53 West.
   8. Adopted Resolution reappointing Joe Hendricks to the Highland Rivers Community Service Board for a three-year term beginning July 1, 2011 and ending June 30, 2014.
   9. Opened Bank Account - 2008 SPLOST at Jasper Banking Company.
   10. Signed agreement with Global Control Solutions for the installation of a Global Controls system for the Administration building and 911 facilities. This system will reduce energy and operating costs. Cost: $30,000.
   11. Signed Commercial Lease Agreement (Creating an Estate for Years) by and between Old Towne Developers, LLC and Pickens County. This lease is for the building located at 35 W. Church Street, Jasper, GA to be used by Pickens County for offices during the Courthouse Project. Rent is $5,000 per month for 24 months.
   12. Signed Warranty Deed (Creating an Estate for Years) by and between Old Towne Developers, LLC and Pickens County, Georgia for building located at 35 W. Church Street, Jasper, GA. The subject property shall automatically revert to the Grantor (Old Towne Developers, LLC) at the end of the 2 year lease - July 31, 2014.
