Pickens County Government, Pickens County School System's Special Education Department and Collaborations For Resiliency in Children, Inc. partnered to raise community awareness with an informational seminar detailing IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act).
The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA 2004) requires each state to develop a State Performance Plan (SPP) that evaluates the state's efforts to implement the requirements and purposes of IDEA 2004 and describes how the state will improve such implementation. State Educational Agencies (SEA) must establish measurable targets for the performance of Students with Disabilities (SWD) on 20 performance indicators. IDEA 2004 requires states to report their progress toward achieving the measurable targets set forth in the SPP through an Annual Performance Report (APR). Click here for more information.

The program successfully pairs the cutting edge technology of online assessments with solid counseling techniques. The WHOLE team approach provides the foundation for a truly usable and practical plan that defines the necessary supports needed by the child and family. Pickens County School's Child Find Program for Preschool is a process that all Georgia school systems use to identify, locate, and evaluate children, aged birth through twenty-one, in the system who are suspected of having disabilities which may result in a need for special education and related services, such as speech, occupational therapy, and physical therapy.
