The Jasper City Council approved leasing a new Caterpillar loader rather than renew the current lease where the equipment will no longer be under warranty. A resolution was adopted for their Cafeteria Plan where changes have been made to adopt a Section 125 plan which is where health insurance is deducted pre-tax from wages. The City of Jasper was awarded GEFA loan for $700,000 and a $300,000 ARC Grant for the water tank south of town. A resolution was adopted to acknowledge the loan.
There was another sighting of the wild hog in the City of Jasper near Farm Bureau around 7:30 p.m. Sunday night. Since there are ordinances in the City of Jasper that prohibit the discharge of firearms or hunting within in the city limits, Lonnie Waters will be placing traps to catch it.
The City of Jasper Police department, for the first time in history, has all their officers equipped with departmental weapons. A Facebook page was launched for the Jasper Police Department. They'll also be purchasing Taser guns later this month and will be trained by the Pickens County Sheriff's office.
