Pickens County Extension Service

Monday - Friday 8 - 5,
closed for lunch each
day for an hour.
(usually between
Noon and 1 pm)

The purpose of the office is to conduct the County 4 H Program. There are no plans to have an agricultural agent in Pickens County for the foreseeable future. County agents are currently available in Gilmer/Fannin County and Bartow County.

The office is staffed by two 4H Extension personnel.

We are the place to get your water or soil tested and your insects identified.

This office is also home to the 4H club. All 5th grade students are serviced in the Pickens County school system, and 6th through 12th graders are welcome to attend after school meetings. The 4H club has a shotgun team, a goat and lamb showing team, a poultry judging team, and many other teams/opportunities available to Pickens County youth. They are also involved in many community service activities.

The Master Gardeners can be contaced through the office, but not there on scheduled basis. They contribute a lot to our county, perhaps the greatest thing being the Farmer's Market.
