[ September 03, 2025 ] I am Sonny Proctor, and I am honored to seek re-election to Seat #1 on the Jasper City Council, my seat for nine years. I hope I can earn your continued trust and support with your vote for my third and final term!

Jasper has been home for over thirty years, and I have faithfully served our community every day of those thirty years, first as a physician and hospital executive, and now on the city council.

We have accomplished so much! Reorganizing our government, improving our services in both police and fire, adding a beautiful new park, selective quality commercial growth, like Chick-fil-A, and much more.

Years ago, the council, kept in the dark about the state of our infrastructure, embarked on another mission: downtown revitalization. Downtowns are the heart of every community! With work like our events, the planned Main Street USA program, and Perrow Park, we are on the way, with more to do, but we now know we have more pressing needs.

We have already slowed growth: first with a moratorium and now a suspension, and we stopped new site plan review in May. We have award-winning lower density zoning and runoff laws to protect our environment and assure quality projects, and we are enforcing them. (We cannot legally stop projects already underway, unless there are violations.)

We know we must solve our water and infrastructure woes and find a sustainable water source to protect our future! We have used our NEW infrastructure MASTER PLAN to identify key projects and have several already underway. We are identifying funding sources and making moves to facilitate accessing those sources which include holding ALL of our developers partially accountable for building and maintaining our infrastructure with Impact Fees, the main reason for developing our own Jasper Comprehensive Plan.

We currently have 30 million dollars of projects, in design and/or construction phase, all with funding, including our wastewater treatment facility, sewer lift station modernization, and water treatment facility maintenance and updates.. And for the first time ever we have a Capital Improvement Plan.

We have leveled the playing field, just like you demanded, though the previous privileged ones don't like it. All they need to do is follow our laws. We must hold our developers, all of them, accountable!

We have qualified professional staff to oversee these projects, and we are working directly with local, state and federal organizations and have been for years. We also have qualified leaders in other areas as well, like fire, police, and our newest department, public works.

Perhaps most exciting, we know where a sustainable water source is and we are collaboratively working through the challenges to get it, but we need to continue to seek other sources as well.

Serving Jasper has been one of the greatest privileges in my life, and I thank you and the good Lord for the opportunity. Please bless me with the ability to see it through and turn it over for the next generation to enjoy: one of my original goals!
