The Meaning Behind

[ June 23, 2021 ] When you walk into the Foothills IGA located in Marble Hill, one of the first things you see as you grab a shopping cart are the words "Hometown Proud," the IGA Company Slogan, boldly displayed in huge letters on the front wall. The culture of the Foothills IGA is rooted in this slogan in everything it does.

There are many ways Foothills IGA strives to serve their local community; one of which fosters the educational futures of employees or children of employees through scholarships for college.

Pictured are two of the store's employees Summer O'Dea and Kirsten Thrasher: this year's recipients of Foothills IGA Scholarships, respectively. Summer will be attending Valdosta State University this upcoming school year, and Kirsten is currently pursuing her degree at the University of North Georgia. These ladies were awarded the scholarship based on their outstanding performance as employees as well as their exceptional application submissions.

The Foothills IGA Market has awarded many scholarships to employees like Summer and Kirsten annually over the store's nineteen years of existence. Foothills IGA provides these scholarships to assist their employees as they pursue their educations post high school and to appeal to other ambitious, hard-working, young adults with the potential to be great additions to the store?s incredible staff.
