Amateur Radio Field Day This Weekend

[ June 21, 2023 ] What would you do if cell phones and the internet stopped working? How would you communicate with someone miles away, or even around the globe? Shortwave amateur radio has been around for more than a century, and is perfectly suited to address these possibilities.

Known as "ham" radio, thousands of operators, from all walks of life, spend their free time perfecting this hobby. Young and old, we are a group of men and women excited by the opportunity to control the airwaves and provide communication far and wide. This month, you now have a unique opportunity to come experience this incredible technology.

On Saturday June 24th, the Jasper Radio Club will be participating in a nation-wide ham radio extravaganza. Amateur Radio Operators (Hams) around the country will be participating in the ARRL's (American Radio Relay League) National Field Day event.

We invite you to come visit us at Cornerstone Church in Jasper. We will be making contacts around the country, or even the world, all day long. Come ask questions, see and use the equipment.

Whether your interest is public service, competition, emergency services, or hanging out with really interesting people, ham radio has something for just about everybody.
