This show features works by Liz Cole and runs from February 3 - 26, 2012.
The traditions and myths of those who have come before have been passed on to future generations through oral stories, sacred places and art forms that express ones connection to place and time.
Matters of the Heartby Liz Cole
"If you ever lose your way, find a stream and follow it to the river.
The river will always carry you home"
These are the words my Grandfather shared with me while sitting on the bank of the river that my family cherished. The place of generations.
My Grandfather's words have come to take on multiple meanings as I have grown older. It is his words that carried me to rivers throughout the world.
And as I sat by each, I knew I was home.
The work in this exhibit is a composite of what was instilled in me from the beginning and has grown through time.
My passion for land, water and community.
My appreciation for family, friends and mentors.
My belief that art is simply an expression,
An expression that takes on multiple forms.
Not to be judged
Simply used as a way to share the story that each of us wishes to pass on to
The story teller lives in each of us.
As does our passion for that which has been given,
that which we choose to pass on.
This exhibition is dedicated to
who taught me patience
who taught me that anything worth pursuing would come at a cost
who is always with me
and to the inspiration that lies within all.
