Twenty teachers from Jasper Elementary each won a $50 Teacher Reward card from Walmart of Jasper. The names were drawn during a staff meeting on October 2, 2013.
Walmart, Sam's Club and the Walmart Foundation launched the Teachers Appreciation program to help offset the out-of-pocket cost incurred by teachers on classroom supplies.
Each year, an elementary school in Pickens County was randomly chosen for teachers to receive the Teacher Reward cards, and past winners were omitted until all schools have benefited. JES was the last school to receive the reward cards and supplies with the cycle starting over next year.
All the teachers received supplies earlier before the drawing occured.
