Below is a message from Bob Howard, Director of Pickens County EMA.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all of our partners and departments that supported public safety in yesterdays floods here in Pickens County. The National Weather Service called yesterdays rains a 100 year rain event for portions of our County. Being prepared and having all the in-house resources for an event such as this is impossible.

I would like to extend a special thanks to the Forsyth County Fire Department for their rapid response and tactical services with 2 separate swift water rescues.
Another special thanks to John Trammell with Community Bank of Pickens County for his contribution to our responders.

As the water reseeds and damages are assessed we will take what we have learned from this event and apply it towards preparedness for the next one.

Please visit us onFace Book at Pickens County Preparedness and if you have not already signed up for Code Red please do so.
