Bear Harvest in North Georgia Must Be Reported Within 24 Hours

Sportsmen and women in North Georgia who successfully harvest a bear during the hunting season must report the harvest within 24 hours and must take the bear to a game management office (either in Gainesville or Armuchee) within three business days of harvest for tagging.

Reporting Bear Harvest: Northwest Georgia (706-295-6041); Northeast Georgia (770-535-5700); After hours (800-241-4113).
Dates and Times for tagging a bear in North Georgia:
o Wildlife Resources Division Game Management Field Office (Legion Road in Ellijay). Legion Road is accessible off Hwy. 282 at Pleasant Grove Road and off South Main Street (Old Highway 5) near the Gilmer County High School; Sept. 14-15 (1-9pm); Sept. 21-22 (1-9pm); Sept. 28-29 (1-9pm).
o Wildlife Resources Division Game Management Office (2592 Floyd Springs Road, Armuchee); Monday Friday (8 am 4:30 pm).
o Wildlife Resources Division Game Management Office (2150 Dawsonville Hwy., Gainesville); Monday Friday (8 am 4:30 pm).
o Harvested bears also may be checked at any WMA check station in North Georgia (9 am 8 pm) that is open for a managed deer/bear/hog hunt during the bear season.
