The Big Canoe Tour of Homes is the annual event in Big Canoe which unites our community for a common cause – to raise funds to support the many charitable organizations in Pickens and Dawson counties. The money raised in 2013 has been disbursed and as the thank you notes come in, it is both heartwarming to read the success stories of healing and life changing opportunities and daunting to realize how much more help is needed.

The 2014 Tour of Homes kicks-off with a Gala at the Big Canoe Clubhouse and we invite you to be there!

Beginning at 5:30 pm with complimentary wine offered as you enter, the evening will be filled with fun, fellowship and good food. Chef Tulio and the Clubhouse Staff will prepare your favorite hors d’oeuvres and new choices to tempt your palette. At a recent tasting, the Phyllo Cups with Trout Dip, the Antipasti Picks with Olives, Cherry Tomatoes and Provolone and the Stuffed Mushroom Caps all received high ratings. Equally delightful were Chef’s new twist on the Crostini with Apricot Preserves and Crumbled Bleu Cheese and his South-Western flavored filled Corn Chips with grilled chicken, black beans, roasted corn and avocado. There will be a carving station with Roast Beef and rolls, Cheese Fondue with an assortment of bread and fruit and both Cocktail and Coconut Shrimp. With a food station in each of the three rooms and an assortment of desserts at each station, even the heartiest of appetites will be satisfied.

Wander through the Clubhouse, appreciate the music, savor the food and complimentary wine, greet your neighbors and friends and make new friends. We want you to enjoy the evening and have fun bidding for those favorite or must have items on the silent auction tables. At 8:00 pm, auctioneer, Robin Huff, will start the live auction, with her customary call reminding you why we do this every year – for fun, for fellowship and for those less fortunate than ourselves.

Clark Howard – Behind the Scenes Tour
Breaking News: A truly exciting last minute addition to the live auction is a “Behind the Scenes Tour” with Clark Howard and his team at WSB. This includes a tour of the building that houses WSB TV and radio, then an opportunity to sit in during Clark’s show prep meeting, where topics for the show are discussed. After that, you can head on down to the studio where Clark works his magic and sit in on one hour of Clark’s live radio show. This is a once in a lifetime experience for any Clark Howard groupie!

Meet the Artists’ Preview Show
New this year, we invite you to join us for a pre-auction "Meet the Artists" Art Show at the Clubhouse on Wednesday, April 16. Artists who have generously agreed to donate work to the Gala Auction will be on hand to meet you and talk with you. Use this time to take a close look at their work, enjoy a glass of wine courtesy of the HOA and, if you choose, place an initial bid.
