Helping Hands Club at Harmony Elementary School
4/1/2014 ~ by Paige Klein
Helping hands is a service club at Harmony Elementary School. The club was founded by a 5th grade student. She felt that she needed to help others. She spoke with the assistant principal about the possibility of starting a club. Guidelines were setup and ten students met criteria to be members of the Helping Hands club.
The club meets once a month to go to special classes and play games, work on crafts, and spend time together. On the March meeting date, the club painted a bluebird house and installed it on the HES playground.
The club members have made friends in different grade levels and become close with students they would have never encountered without the club. Helping hands is appreciative to Mrs. Simonds and Ms. Duncan for sponsoring the club and itís activities.
