Last month, teachers from each school in Pickens County selected a Teacher of the Year. Lisa Barnett, a third grade teacher, was chosen at Tate Elementary School.

Dr. Lula Mae Perry, Superintendent asked each Teacher of the Year representative to share their teaching philosophy, views on education, and the challenges they face in the classroom.

Teaching Philosophy
"My teaching philosophy is based on the positive interactions and real life experiences I share with my students every day. How we interact with one another determines our relationship. I know my job is to teach and guide, but it is also to care, share, feel and love. I believe in taking the time to really listen to my students. I hope to leave a fingerprint on their lives and help shape their future in some small way." ~ Lisa Barnett
