"It'll make you lick your fingers and smack your lips", is a good description of the barbecue chicken prepared at the Old Tate Gym twice yearly. Marble Valley Friends Historic Preservation organization sponsors the meal as a fund raiser each spring and fall. The spring 2016 event will occur on Friday, April 29th.
The lunchtime meal takes place between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Diners are invited to eat in the historic Old Tate Gym, pick up meals for takeout, or request deliver for four or more meals to the same location. The menu includes: pit-cooked chicken, baked beans, slaw, bread, and cake. All of that cost only $8.00.
Limited space restricts the number of plates available to only 500. All usually sell quickly. Advance orders may be placed until April 22nd with any member of Marble Valley Friends, or by calling Penny Davis at (770) 735-2564 or Lawton Baggs at (706) 692-6598. MVF members may call on you seeking your order.
Funds raised by this event help defray expenses for the organization's historic preservation efforts. One of the major efforts is the maintenance of the 1925 gym as a community resource. The food is good; the setting is historic; the fellowship is enjoyable. Why not plan on spending a couple of hours involved with MVF on the 29th?
