Pickens County Fire Host Vehicle Extrication Classes for 60 Students
Pickens County Fire Department recently hosted two state sponsored vehicle extrication classes. Each class consisted of three days of training allowing the students to obtain two different certification levels. These classes were funded by the Georgia Association of EMS as part of a state wide train the trainer instructor program.
Four members of the Pickens County Fire Department and almost sixty students from fire departments throughout the state attended and obtained their instructor certification. These classes consisted of classroom sessions followed by hands on practical evolutions.
Some of the topics covered in the classes included modern vehicle construction, hybrid and electric vehicles, alternatively fueled vehicles, patient care, vehicle stabilization, late model airbag systems and advanced steels.
