'The 500' refers to the number of diners who will be able to get barbecue chicken plates through the Marble Valley Friends fundraiser on Friday, April 28th. Serving hours are 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. MVF, a historic preservation organization headquartered in Tate, sponsors the well-received event twice annually.
The Spring meal is rapidly approaching. Because of limited facilities, only 500 plates can be prepared. The first 500 to purchase tickets will enjoy lunch including 1/2 chicken cooked over charcoal in an open pit, baked beans, slaw, bread and cake for only $8.
Diners may choose to visit with others while eating in the historic Old Tate Gym. pick up for take-out, or arrange delivery for four or more meals to the same location.
Tickets must be pre-sold by April 21". Those wishing to buy tickets, or get on the reservation list, may contact any member of Marble Valley Friends. Phone orders may be placed with Penny Davis art 770-735-2564, or with Lawton Baggs at 706-692-6598.
Maintaining the Old Tate Gym as a community resource is the major undertaking of MVF. Funds raised through this effort help with that endeavor. The event itself provides good food, good visiting opportunities, and good support for historic preservation. Those deciding to get tickets late often are unable to do so because of "The 500'' limit. Don't delay. Order soon, and come check it out!
