Eagle’s Rest Park, Mt Oglethorpe, GA…

WILDFLOWERS…the wildflowers that were donated and planted by the Wildflower Bunch of Big Canoe are now in full bloom and showing their beautiful faces to park visitors.

PARK HOURS…the park will be open from sunup to sundown seven days a week. The park will be closed from sundown to sunup in order to maintain better control of the park…to prevent unwanted visitors from misusing the park at night. This schedule should also minimize the traffic on Monument Road during evening and nighttime hours.

SEPTEMBER EVENT…Birds and Butterflies…the Fall Equinox program scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 23 will feature Theresa Hartz-Rasmussen. Theresa’s presentation will focus on bird migration and butterflies. There is no event scheduled for the Summer Solstice.

Boy Scout Troop 20 is doing their civic duty… Will Dodson, son of Scoutmaster Jeff Dodson, is shown clearing weeds from the Stone Eagle. The building of the Stone Eagle is an "on-going" project…we encourage visitors to the park to add their stones to help complete the eagle on the South Face of Mt. Oglethorpe. Boy Scout Troop 20 will be working on the park this summer.

Come to the mountain to renew your mind, body and spirit!
