Kris Stancil Announces Candidacy For Chairman of the Pickens County Board of Commissioners

On Tuesday, May 28th, Kris Stancil announced his candidacy for Chairman of the Pickens County Board of Commissioners on his official Campaign Website and Facebook page (@Stancil For Pickens).

In his announcement, Kris highlighted that this decision was one he and his wife, Allison, have spent the last 2 years making. After many prayers and conversations with family and friends, they decided to step into the opportunity.

In addition to his career service, Kris has served on numerous boards of directors and has been the organizer of multiple charity events that include JeepFest. Kris and his wife Allison have raised their 2 children in Pickens County, and are actively involved at Revolution Church. Both Kris and Allison have served their community throughout their adult lives. Allison has spent the last 20 years teaching elementary school in Pickens County.

In his video announcement (shown above), Kris details how he believes that the role of a candidate is to show who they are, what qualifications they possess, and their vision for moving the county forward. He reiterated that he did not believe in the practice of negative politics that only focus on other candidates seeking the same position.

In 2018, Kris completed his training to become a Certified Public Manager as recognized by the International Association of City and County Managers. This combined with his experience as a community leader has prepared Kris to serve as a strong leader.

In his announcement, Kris detailed the leadership traits that he believed were essential to serve as Chairman. He listed Honesty, Integrity, Transparency, and Humility as the keys to successful leadership and stated that he hopes his track record will show all four. Kris said “I believe in doing the right thing, simply because it is the right thing to do. Not because of what you may be able to get from it.”

Detailing issues to discuss over the upcoming year, Kris sited Economic Development, Infrastructure, Parks and Recreation, and keeping taxes low as the focus of his initial campaign.

In addition to his announcement, Kris announced a live Q&A event to take place on Facebook (@Stancil For Pickens) on Thursday, June 6th at 7 pm. During this time, individuals will have the opportunity to ask questions and have a conversation about Kris and his ideas. For those who are unable to tune in live but would like to submit questions, please email them to to have them included.

Kris expressed that he knows there are a variety of different viewpoints on a multitude of issues and stated that he looks forward to the many conversations that will take place as we work through them and focus on what is best for all of Pickens County. He looks forward to working closely with all county and city leaders to ensure that the citizens of Pickens County are receiving the best services that can be offered. By avoiding complacency and seeking excellence as the standard of service, Kris hopes that we can continue to make Pickens County an even better place to call home.
