The Pickens County Coin Club will host its 11th coin show Saturday, July 13, 2019 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Amicalola Electric Membership Corporation Community Center (544 Georgia-515, Jasper, Ga. 30143). The event and parking are free and all ages are welcome and encouraged to come and learn about coin collecting.
“If you are interested in coins, this is a great chance to see what is available, start a new hobby or expand your coin collection,” said President Chris Paire. “If you have coins you would like to identify or sell, this is an opportunity to learn more about what you have and receive a fair offer.”
Dealer tables are $25 for members and $35 for non-members. Contact Vice President Phillip Reece at email@example.com or 706-260-7053 to sign up for a table.
Collectors are passionate about coins for many, many reasons.
“Some people like the precious metal aspect of gold and silver coins. Some people enjoy the historical journey of a coin, learning the political circumstances at the time of its creation and where the coin travels through time,” said Paire. “Others love the art of the coin - the artist, the engraver, the metals involved, the art styles. It is sculpture on a planchette - the round, flat disk used to mint coins.”
The Pickens County Coin Club is a well-established group of collectors from northwest Georgia and meets the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 6 p.m. Members discuss news and hold auctions. Meetings are free and all are welcome. More information is available on Facebook: Pickens County Coin Club - Jasper, Georgia
