Chamber Ribbon Cutting at Pickens County Mercantile & Quilt Shoppe, Jasper
8/14/2019 ~ by Toni Blackwell
The Pickens County Chamber of Commerce recently had a ribbon cutting at Pickens County Mercantile and Quilt Shoppe located at 109 Depot Street in Jasper.
After working in the corporate world for 21 years, Owner, Toni Lafferty, decided she wanted to pursue her dream of opening up her own quilt shop and forego the daily stress of the corporate world.
Pickens County Mercantile was born on June 17th, 2019. Her dreams came to fruition after finding the owner of the Jasper Train Depot and he agreed to lease the building to her. The building was perfect for her vision of what she wanted her shop to become. The building has also undergone a face lift and it is just stunning inside with quality fabrics, yarns and exciting classes that are sure to inspire.
She has modeled the shop with a primitive theme as she has a love for antiques and primitive items as well. It took several months to complete the task of getting everything just as she wanted it to be.
Toni has been sewing since she was 13 years old. So, she has a world of experience in quilting, knitting and craft making. She thanks everyone involved in getting the shop up and running and she is proud to have her shop in the City of Jasper in the historic Depot.
