VOTE tomorrow Tuesday, November 5th in the General Municipal and Special Election. Polls open from 7 am to 7 pm.

532 voted during advance in-person voting that was held on Monday, October 14th through Friday, November 1st at the Board of Elections and Registration on Pioneer Road.

Below are sample ballots for the municipal elections (must live within city/town limits to vote) and countywide special election to continue the 1% SPLOST.

SPECIAL PURPOSE LOCAL OPTION SALES TAX

Shall a special one percent sales and use tax be continued in Pickens County for a period of time of six years to raise approximately $37,000,000.00 for the following purposes:

(a) for the County:
(i) road, streets, sidewalks, and bridge projects including but not limited to equipment and material necessary to build, maintain, and repair roads, streets, sidewalks and bridges together with the construction, modification, improvement, repair and leasing of the offices, facilities and grounds used for said projects;
(ii) water and sewer facilities;
(iii) the payment of principal and interest on existing general obligation debt on the County Airport;
(iv) vehicles, equipment, and facilities for Fire, EMS, and 911;
(v) vehicles, equipment, and facilities for the Pickens County Sheriff;
(vi) parks and recreation projects and facilities; and
(vii) economic development capital outlay project(s) to be operated by the county or a local authority within the county; all for the benefit of the County;

(b) for the City of Jasper:
(i) road, streets, sidewalks, bridge and storm water related projects including but not limited to facilities, equipment and material necessary to build, maintain, and repair road, streets, sidewalks, bridges, and storm water related projects;
(ii) water and sewer facilities;
(iii) public safety including but not limited to vehicles, equipment, and facilities for Fire, EMS, Police, and 911;
(iv) parks and recreation projects and facilities; all for the benefit of the City of Jasper;

(c) for the City of Nelson:
(i) storm water projects and facilities;
(ii) road, streets, sidewalks and bridge projects including but not limited to facilities, equipment and material necessary to build, maintain, and repair roads, streets, sidewalks and bridges;
(iii) parks and recreation projects and facilities;
(iv) the renovation, repair, remodeling, modification, construction, and equipping of the existing City Hall building; all for the benefit of the City of Nelson;

(d) for the City of Talking Rock:
(i) road, streets, sidewalks and bridge projects including but not limited to facilities, equipment and material necessary to build, maintain, and repair roads, streets, sidewalks and bridges;
(ii) water and sewer facilities;
(iii) parks and recreation projects and facilities; all for the benefit of the City of Talking Rock.

If imposition of the tax is approved by the voters, such vote shall also constitute approval of the issuance of general obligation debt of Pickens County in the principal amount of $5,000,000.00 for the purposes of funding the projects, capitalized interest on the Debt, and the costs of issuing the Debt.
