Fainting Goat Vineyards 5k to Benefit Wellness Programs at Good Samaritan
10/22/2019 ~ by Good Samaritan Health & Wellness Center
Health and fitness are the great reasons to complete a 5K race, but add in beautiful mountain views, live music, good wine, plus a worthy cause, and you’ve got an experience to remember! The 2nd Annual Fainting Goat Vineyard 5K will take place on Saturday, December 7, 2019 from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 pm, and all proceeds and donations will benefit Good Samaritan Health and Wellness Center and its wellness program JumpStart.
The 5K will start and finish at the Fainting Goat Vineyard and Winery, and the course will run on one lane of State Route 136 near Vineyard Way. State Route 136 will be monitored for bi-directional road traffic for about an hour by the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office, and an electronic messaging sign will be posted to minimize traffic inconveniences resulting for local residents.
Race participants will enjoy majestic mountain views from the top of Sharptop Cove and will receive numerous other incentives as well. Registrants receive a long-sleeved race t-shirt and will be treated to hot barbeque, live music, amazing views, a beautiful holiday decorated winery, and delicious local wine for those ages 21 and older. Runners and their guests, along with anyone wanting to support the cause, can donate $50 or more to Good Samaritan and receive a $15 gift card from Fainting Goat that will be valid after December 7.
Event organizers hope to have 200 runners participate in the 5K Run or the 1-mile Walk—with many expected to come from the metro Atlanta area and surrounding areas. With the annual Christmas parade and a charity tour of homes taking place in downtown Jasper later on December 7, racegoers will be able to stay and enjoy the city’s small-town holiday hospitality. The race presents local businesses a wonderful way to introduce out-of-towners to the charm of Pickens County and promote local businesses.
