6/23/2020

(UPDATE 6/23/2020) - The Board of Commissioners working in consultation with PCRD staff and their advisory board will resume the reopening plan for PCRD operations to the public in stages. These efforts serve as a balance between ensuring safety and offering necessary services. The multiphase reopening will include the following:

Roper Park remains open (activities must meet health guidelines).

Summer Camp will reopen July 6th (strict health guidelines in place and limited to 40 kids).

The Community Center will reopen to the public beginning June 29th. Once open the Community Center will operate on modified hours (M-F 8am to 5pm). There will be specific times set aside for certain activities.

- Walking 8am to 10am
- Pickleball 10am to 12pm
- Open Gym 12pm to 5pm

The pool will open on June 30th (strict health guidelines in place including bringing your own chair).

The Community Center will tentatively return to normal operating hours and allow room rentals and fitness classes beginning July 6th.

This multiphase reopening will allow our staff to best serve the community in a safe way. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during these difficult times. We look forward to seeing you soon at PCRD!

(UPDATE 6/12/2020 ) - Pickens County Government learned on June 5, 2020 that a PCRD employee received a positive diagnosis for COVID-19. In accordance with health guidelines, Pickens County Recreation Department closed on that date and all patrons were notified. Since, that time additional PCRD employees have received a positive diagnosis for COVID-19. Therefore, PCRD will remain closed to the public until further notice.

Roper Park will remain open to the public, but health guidelines are in place and will be enforced. We apologize for any inconvenience; however, this decision is in the best interest of public safety.

---------------------

(6/5/2020) - Pickens County Government was notified today June 5th that an employee received a positive diagnosis for COVID-19. The employee experienced symptoms after work on the evening of June 4th. The employee did not come to work on June 5, 2020, but instead went to be tested for COVID-19 and received a positive diagnosis.

The employee who tested positive works fulltime for the Pickens County Recreation Department and has been at work this week. The individual was following all required health protocols. Our records show the employee never exhibited any symptoms while at work and was never running a fever upon entry.

Out of an abundance of caution and in adherence with CDC and the Department of Public Health (DPH) guidelines, Pickens County Recreation Department will close effective immediately. PCRD will remain closed until the facility is properly cleaned and sanitized. Additionally, all staff, summer camp participants, and other patrons have been notified. This will allow anyone in potential contact to follow proper health procedures.

Pickens County Government will remain transparent with our stakeholders and we will continue to take necessary precautions to maintain the health and safety of our citizens and our staff.
