Tater Patch Players Comedy Now Open!
'A Funny Little Thing Called Love' Through May 23rd
Tater Patch Players is back in full swing with their upcoming comedy romp 'A Funny Little Thing Called Love' by the comedy writing trio of Jones, Hope, and Wooten. This show is a comedy romp that's reminiscent of shows like Carol Burnett.
The play leads us around the world, following a romantically enchanting full moon. This comedy might give audience members some romantic ideas, but it's guaranteed to give everyone an evening of laughs. The play's first scene is set in a busy San Francisco TV newsroom where romance and more put in a very unexpected appearance. Chelsea Walker, Nancy Loy and Tater Patch newcomer Derek Perry kick off the laughs.
Quickly, we move on to Dallas. The title of the second scene is "The Lone Star Ladies Justice Brigade." Alex Nawrocki plays a wanna-be Romeo who finds himself with too much romance for one man - even a Texan. Nancy Loy, Kim Martin, Phyllis Zerkle and Nan Nawrocki are the Texas ladies who deliver some rib-tickling "tough love".
In Act 2, we cross the pond and under a London moon, we meet a quiet, reserved Englishman, enjoying some peace in a small cafe. He is suddenly confronted with a VERY sharing and unsophisticated young lady from Oklahoma. And then he meets her "soon to be ex-fiancé", Ferlin, played with rural style by John Kuehl.
And finally, we end up in the Big Apple, where romance reaches comic heights. There's a proposal, a hilarious comic appearance by Jan Simpson that has to be seen and heard to be appreciated, a man in his boxers, a paramedic and another man who makes a very unexpected arrival. By the time the evening is over, you’ll be trying to find ways to quote many of the lines of the show, including this scene's "She's not dead, she's French". All in all, a memorable return by your Tater Patch Players.
This is a family show and the jokes could probably be enjoyed by all ages. However, some of the "romance" is a little on the adult side. Come enjoy a night out at the theater with your friends, a proper intermission with refreshments, and plentiful laughs. We are so glad to be back entertaining you, and promise you our best!
The show will be performed May 7, 8, 9, 14, 15, 16, 21, 22, 23. The Sunday shows are at 2:00 PM and the others at 7:30 PM. Tickets are available at the box office or in advance at taterpatchplayers.org/tickets.
Adult tickets are $20, Seniors are $18 and students are $15.
