Chattahoochee Technical College’s Appalachian Campus proudly proclaims Tonya Merrell as the EAGLE nominee for Pickens County. EAGLE (Exceptional Adult Georgian in Literacy Education) is the first statewide program in the nation that recognizes and rewards excellence among students enrolled in adult education.

Tonya is an outstanding young lady and an inspiration for everyone she meets. She has many responsibilities as a wife, mother of five children, and a college student. She holds true to the saying “if there’s a will, there’s a way,” because she devoted herself to obtaining her GED and, despite a sometimes hectic schedule, she pulled through and did exactly what she sought to do.

The faculty and staff of Pickens Learning Center, as affiliated with the Appalachian Campus, feel that she is a good representative for this notable recognition. We wish her the greatest in her future endeavors and know that she will forever possess the tenacity to fulfill her dreams.
