Pride of Pickens Band Concert

The Pride of Pickens will perform a spring concert on Thursday, May 13th at 7:30 p.m. in the new Performing Arts Center at Pickens High School.

“It’s a great sound, and a great facility,” said Pat Gallagher, band director for the Pickens HS Concert Band. Gallagher said most of their old performances have been in school gyms and that he is excited using the new facility. We are very lucky to have such an outstanding facility in our county.
Admission is free – “A great deal for such fine entertainment.”

The band will feature several soloists. Ethan Rutledge, a trombone player at PHS, will perform a “Nessun Dorma”. Katie Stocker, Savannah Singletary, Shannon O’Dell, Lance Parrish and Tricia Gallagher will be featured on an arrangement of “The Devil Went Down To Georgia” for mallet percussion. A highlight of the evening will be the vocal performance of former Pride of Pickens Drum Major, Mrs. Allison Holmes Adams, accompanied by the PHS band performing “I Dreamed A Dream and “It Is Well”.

The bands will also play the following pieces:

• “Ireland, Of Legend and Lore” by Robert W. Smith

• “Flight of the Piasa” by Robert Sheldon

• “March form 1st Suite in Eb” by Gustav Holst

• “Brazil, Ceremony, Song and Samba” by Robert W. Smith
• “The Cowboys” by John Williams
